Background Information
Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Danielle has called Singapore home for the last 20 years. After a career in the art and creative industries she transitioned to mental health and community services. As an Art Therapy trainee, Danielle's practice is rooted in empathy, authenticity while honouring each person's lived experience. Danielle's own experience of turning to art as a source of grounding and resilience has shaped her belief in its therapeutic power. She is especially drawn to working with children and neurodivergent individuals, creating a space where art becomes a bridge to expression, regulation and connection.
Her practice gently emphasises the use of natural materials and organic textures as a pathway for attunement, sensory integration, and emotional grounding. Guided by cultural humility, Danielle values respecting differences while creating inclusive environments where creativity and healing can flourish. She believes that art can hold complex emotions while fostering resilience and growth.
With her Golden Retriever, Cleo, as a steady companion and a curiosity for exploring the outdoors, she integrates creativity, nature and compassion into her journey as an Art Therapist.
